Who We Are

In the heart of the lush Ixopo KZN hills, lies a hidden gem – a guest house, venue and restaurant on an old mission farm build by Trappist Monks in 1896.

Farm to Fork Restaurant

The Saint Isidore’s Restaurant is at the heart of a new beginning for Kings Grant, to ‘return to farm’ and to supply our restaurant and community with our own fresh produce. With our Trappist roots of being a self-sustainable food supply farm for the neighbouring mission and with our small teams combined passion for creativity, learning and artisanal, house-made farm to fork food – we embark on a new culinary journey that immerses itself in farm life.

Stay

Experience the tranquility of an old Trappist mission farm.

Trappist History

Explore an old mission farm and maize mill built by Trappist Monks over a century ago.

Small Scale Food Farm

For over a hundred years, the farm was run by monks overseen by the Mariannhill Monastery, with it’s sole purpose ‘to grow and supply food’ to the neighbouring Mariathal Mission and St Mary’s Seminary. In the year 2000, it was lovingly restored and transformed into Kings Grant Country Retreat.
